Forms for JEE Main 2015 are available from November 7, 2014 and can be filled till December 18, 2014 The exam can be taken via either the offline mode (pen and paper based) or online mode. The offline mode is the conventional method where there will be a question paper and an answer sheet to fill up the options.
The online mode of examination is a feature that was introduced to keep up with the changing times. Since it is a new system, there may be quite some doubts regarding the process. But you will be glad to know that through the online mode, you have some perks over the handwritten exam. Take a look:
Some advantages of online exam over offline exam
- The biggest advantage of the online mode is that at any point during the exam, you can go back to previous answers and change the options. This is not possible in pen and paper based exam.
- There is an option to mark questions that you want to come back to review.
- There is color-coded panel on the screen that keeps track of the questions that have been answered, that are left to be answered, and those that have been marked for review.
- Another major advantage is that this mode allows candidates to choose an exam date of his/her choice. However, once filled, changes are not allowed normally.
For those who are apprehensive about security issues, they must know that the test is conducted on a LAN (Local Area Network), hence making the systems out of reach for any external threats. In addition, CBSE guidelines ensure that there are enough spare systems at every exam centre. According to the guidelines, if there is any technical problem, the time that is consumed in switching systems will be compensated for. Since the servers account for every second, there is no chance that you will have to suffer for system issues.
Examination papers for 2014 are available on the official website of JEE Main. You can download the question papers as well as the answer keys for both Paper I and II. The official website also has mock tests for online mode/computer based exam to give you a fair idea of what to expect. The mock test is also for offline mode exam as it is only the medium which changes, not the questions.
