All the candidates who have cleared JEE Main 2015 are hereby invited to participate in JoSAA 2015 Seat Allocation process. The article highlights the important changes that have been made in the seat allocation process from this year onwards as compared to previous year for getting admission in IIIT’s, NIT’s and other Government Funded Technical Institutes.
For the first time, admission to NIT’s, IIIT’s and other GFTI’s will be done along with IIT’s and ISM Dhanbad via common portal known as Joint Seat Allocation Authority or in short JoSAA. NIT’s, IIIT’s and other GFTI’s are together known as NIT +System whereas IIT’s and ISM are together known by the name IIT + System.
Around 1.3 Million students took JEE Main 2015 Exam this year which was conducted in Pen and Paper based mode on April 4, 2015 while the Computer Based test was conducted on April 10 and 11, 2015. Out of the total students who have appeared 0.124 Million qualified for JEE Advanced which was conducted on May 24, 2015 in Pen and Paper Based mode.
The main reason behind this collaboration is to make the seat allotment process for all the participating Institutes as candidate friendly as possible so that the anxiety and the inconvenience associated with admissions which the candidates as well as Institutes face gets reduced or completely eradicated. The same ONLINE manner of Seat Allocation has been adopted even this year too but with few modifications.
Seat Allocation Process will consist of four rounds with no option for spot round. Below are mentioned the specific changes that have been made which every candidate must keep in mind because this year it is a common counselling for both NIT System and IIT System:
• The opportunity of online Registration and choice filling of the programmes that are being offered in NIT’s, IIIT’s and other GFTI’s is given only for ONE TIME.
• There will be 4 ROUNDS of seat allocations. In First 3 rounds of seat allocation all the participating Institutes will participate and in the 4th Round of seat allocation only NIT + System along with preparatory course for IIT + System will participate.
• Once the first round of counselling gets over, candidates will have a choice to either of the three namely: FREEZE, FLOAT OR SLIDE. These options once given cannot be changed. If the candidate chose freeze, they will not be considered for next round of counselling. If they chose either float or slide option, they will be taken into consideration for further round of counselling.
• When the candidate will be allotted seat in NIT + System, they will have to report in Reporting Centers of NIT + System and if they have been allotted seat in IIT, they will have to report in Reporting Centers of IIT + System
If in case the candidate was allotted seat in NIT + System during the previous round and in the subsequent round they are offered seat in IIT + System, they must report in IIT + Reporting Centres or vice versa. If by chance the candidate does not report in the subsequent round, candidates will lose both the seats one in IIT + System and the other in NIT + System.
