National Entrance Screening Test
(NEST) is a national level entrance examination which is organized together by
NISER (National Institute of Science Education and Research) and Mumbai
University (Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic
Sciences). The both NISER and Mumbai University (UM-DAE CEBS) were established
by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. Their
guidelines are to educate about the scientific programs of Department of Atomic
Energy and many other science institutions in the country.
The NEST 2018 is held in order to provide admissions to the candidates
in the five year integrated MSc program in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
Mathematics which are offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. For securing admissions
in NISER and Mumbai University (Department of Atomic Energy Centre for
Excellence in Basic Sciences), Mumbai are offered on the basis of NEST’s score.
The candidates who have passed their Class XII from Science stream are able to
apply for the National Entrance Screening Test. The candidates can visit the
official website on or after December 26, 2017 for all the notifications
regarding NEST 2018.
The seats available for securing
the admission in NISER Bhubaneswar are 170 seats + 2(JK). And the total number
of seats available for securing the admissions in CBS Mumbai are 45 seats +
2(JK). And for the candidates who belong to Jammu and Kashmir then there are
two seats reserved in each institution for them.
All the candidates who are
acknowledged to National Institute of Science Education and Research and CBS
are also eligible to apply for the scholarship program of Rs. 60000 per year
and Rs. 20000 additionally per year for summer internship. The candidates who
will perform the best and be among the top performers in NISER and CBS they are
eligible and can apply for the final interview of BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research
Centre). But before applying for the exam the candidates must read all the
eligibility guidelines to check whether they are able to apply or not.
The eligible candidates only can
apply for the NEST application form from the official website whenever it is
applicable. The National entrance screening test application form will be accepted
through online mode only as there is no offline mode application form available
for all the eligible candidates who are willing to apply for the exam. The
candidates have to make their application form payment via online mode only as
there is no need of sending any DD (Demand draft) or document via post to any
of the specified address for making the payment of their application form. The
candidates are requested to take a print out of their application form for all
the further communications. If the candidate wants to avoid the situation of
misplacement then he/she are advised to take 2-3 copies of their confirmation
form. As, the provided details on the confirmation form such as application
number and password will be required further in admit card and result.
The eligibility criteria
guidelines are given below:

Academic Qualification – All the
candidates must have qualified class 10+2 examinations in either 2016 or 2017.
Also, the candidates who are willing to appear in 2018 are also eligible to
apply for the exam. Only the candidates who belong to science stream (having
any combination of Biology/chemistry/Math/Physics in class XI) can apply for
the exam.

Age – The age criteria for all the
candidates who belong to the General and OBC category must be born on or after
1 August, 1997. But for the candidates who belongs to SC/ST/PWD the age limit
is relaxed upto 5 years.
· Minimum qualifying marks –The candidates
who belong to General and OBC category they must have score min. 60% marks in
their class 12 exams or any other equivalent exam from any of the recognized
board. But for the candidates who belong from SC/ST/PWD they must have scored
55% of the minimum marks in their class 10+2 exams. If, the candidates have
scored these marks can apply for the NEST
2018 exam.
